True Stories Told Live storytelling cabaret - 'tis the season

The Book Council’s intimate and energetic cabaret-style storytelling evening True Stories Told Live is returning to Wellington on December 4.

A stellar line-up of local personalities, including authors Elizabeth Knox and Kate de Goldi, Angela Meyer of The Real Hot Bitches fame, and Dim Post blogger Danyl Mclauchlan amongst others, will stir up personal stories with a festive twist.

This is unabashed storytelling, totally unscripted, where anything can happen.

The silly season is a time for unusual festive gatherings, for secret Santa, felted Santa, sweaty Santa, and faintly familiar Santa a.k.a. Mike from up the road. The silly season makes for brilliant, odd, cringe-worthy stories and this is exactly what our speakers will offer up as they take to the stage, with ten minutes each to weave their tale.

Not only will you enjoy a thrilling evening of storytelling, your entry on the door will directly support the Book Council’s Writers in Schools programme, which has been bringing books, authors and children together since 1973.

'Amazing to be in the presence of people remembering, shaping stories in the moment. Funny, awkward, moving, beautiful.' - Emily Perkins
